Warwick software company making music happen

Earlier this year, Rivo Foundation was approached by Des Clifton, a volunteer music teacher at the Afro-Caribbean Project (A.C.P), Leamington Spa.

Des has been producing music for over twenty years, however for the last two, he has spent time running a music studio located within A.C.P. Des talks about the studio’s aim, “We strive to provide facilities and resources for the local community. We give encouragement and opportunities for local young people who are passionate about music, to come along and record and produce their own material.”

The fantastic work that takes place at A.C.P was being restricted. With makeshift equipment and outdated computers, all creating vast problems, the music studio was losing valuable work and time.

This is where the Rivo Foundation came into play.

Des wanted to upgrade the main computer and highlighted to Rivo Foundation that the music industry utilises Apple Mac’s a lot more than PC’s. In order to maintain continuity with the industry it was decided to get a Mac for the studio. Along with the brand new computer, Rivo team member, Russell Howarth kindly donated his much loved … Guitar and offered, along with a couple of other colleagues to fix up the Recording Studio by adding better panelling to the sound booth.

The old PC is now fully upgraded to a shiny new Mac, and the studio has a fantastic guitar to play with. However there are still lots more things that Des and A.C.P would love to achieve… this is where you can help! If you would like to sponsor the incredible work done at A.C.P and The Music Studio please get in touch with Des.

The Rivo Foundation team were extremely humbled to understand how such a simple moment can transform someone’s life in amazing ways, and Des does this through the creation of music with all walks of life in our community.
