Lavazza Named Official House Purveyor of The James Beard Foundation: Italy’s Favorite Coffee Now Supporting America’s Most Beloved Culinary Nonprofit

Lavazza, Italy's Favorite Coffee, has proudly become a supporting sponsor of the James Beard Foundation, and the official House Purveyor at the James Beard House.

Lavazza’s (www.lavazza.com)115 years of history in producing Italy’s most loved espresso and the company’s heritage are a natural complement to the Foundation’s mission of preserving America's culinary heritage and exploring the way food enriches lives.

“The Foundation is delighted to welcome Lavazza as our newest House Purveyor and exclusive coffee of the Beard House,” said Susan Ungaro, President of the James Beard Foundation.

As part of its sponsorship, Lavazza espresso and coffee are served at the James Beard House – the historical residence of James Beard.  Guests have the opportunity to enjoy Lavazza products – at the 200 plus dinners that take place at the House annually.  Events at the house tap the most talented and promising chefs from across America.

“Lavazza is thrilled to contribute to the Foundation’s enduring efforts to perpetuate the very best that America’s multifaceted culinary traditions have to offer,” remarked Ennio Ranaboldo, CEO of Lavazza North America.

At this year’s May 9 James Beard Awards, known widely as “the Oscars of the culinary world,” Lavazza offered guests its very best, ¡Tierra!, the 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified espresso.

Founded in 1986, the James Beard Foundation is dedicated to celebrating, nurturing, and preserving America's diverse culinary heritage and future. A cookbook author and teacher with an encyclopedic knowledge about food, James Beard, who died in 1985, was a champion of American cuisine. He helped educate and mentor generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts. Today, the Beard Foundation continues in the same spirit by administering a number of diverse programs that include educational initiatives, food industry awards, scholarships to culinary schools, and publications, and by maintaining the historic James Beard House in New York City’s Greenwich Village as a “performance space” for visiting chefs.
