Turon24, Uzbekistan’s multimedia news agency, launched earlier this year. It is one of the only few news agencies in Central Asia to have complete editorial freedom as it is not owned by the government.

Turon24 delivers news from all over Central Asia in English, Russian and Uzbek languages.

Nargizakhon Rakhimova, the General Director of Turon24, said: “We want to be the leader in providing factual information from Central Asia to the rest of the world. We have more than 200 editorial staff, which means we can supply accurate information quickly.”

Media freedom has been slow to develop in Central Asia, but Ms Rakhimova added: “As an independent news agency in Central Asia, we are proud to be leading the way in delivering objective and unbiased news from the region”.

Sardor Salim, head of the Politics department at Turon24, noted: “Thanks to our editorial independence, Turon24 is now the most reliable source of accurate information from Central Asia”.

As well as providing news coverage and multimedia content from Central Asia, Turon24 also conducts market analysis of Central Asian countries, including economic outlook and trends, and produces analytical reports on all the industries and sectors in the region, which are useful for foreign investors and businesses operating in Central Asia already or looking to enter the market for the first time.

Turon24 has a network of correspondents in Central Asia, Afghanistan and Russia, with 14 regional centres in Uzbekistan.

The agency was registered by the Uzbek Agency for Press and Information on August 1, 2018

The Central Asia region consists of the former Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
